Our business segments consist of natural gas distribution operations, retail operations, wholesale services, midstream operations and cargo shipping. We are traded publicly on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol GAS.

Distribution Operations
This business unit features seven natural gas utilities that safely deliver clean, efficient natural gas to nearly 4.5 million customers and is the largest component of our business. These utilities construct, manage and maintain intrastate natural gas pipelines, distribution facilities and peaking and storage facilities. We also respond to and repair gas leaks and other requests for service and are responsible for meter reading. And while most of our customers buy their natural gas directly from the local utilities, some of our customers in Illinois and New Jersey and all of our customers in Georgia buy natural gas from their choice of retail marketer due to deregulation in these states. Midstream Operations
Gas storage facilities play a vital role in ensuring reliable supply. With proximity to interstate and intrastate pipelines, natural gas storage facilities provide an efficient and dependable supply of natural gas to consumers, businesses and utilities. Stored gas is particularly valuable when production or delivery is compromised, such as in the aftermath of a hurricane. As one of the largest containerized cargo carriers in the Caribbean and the Bahamas, AGL Resources' Tropical Shipping business serves ports in the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Eastern Caribbean and Guyana.
