Charles Rawson was named vice president, Gas Operations for AGL Resources (NYSE:GAS) in July 2007. He is responsible for ensuring the safe delivery of gas through the company's more than 79,000 miles of pipe through seven states as the company serves 4.5 million utility customers through Atlanta Gas Light, Chattanooga Gas, Elizabethtown Gas, Elkton Gas, Florida City Gas, Nicor Gas and Virginia Natural Gas. Rawson also is responsible for the operation of 22 gas storage and peaking facilities throughout the country with working gas storage of approximately 188 BCF. Rawson has more than 29 years of valuable company experience and is especially well-suited to assuring that AGL Resources' gas operations are state-of-the-art and meet the needs of utilities and customers for years to come.

In 2004 to 2007, Rawson was vice president and general manager of Florida City Gas, where he led the successful integration of Florida City Gas into AGL Resources. He was responsible for serving 101,000 residential and industrial customers in seven counties, from Brevard to Miami-Dade.

Rawson first joined Atlanta Gas Light in 1985 as an engineer. He has served in the following capacities during his career with AGL Resources: director of cogeneration; manager of commercial and industrial markets; director of marketing; managing director of market development; managing director of research and analysis; vice president and general manager of Florida City Gas; and head of Atlanta Gas Light Company's Coastal Region.

Some career highlights include testifying before the Georgia Public Service Commission to secure the approval of a $400 million infrastructure project for Atlanta Gas Light, leading settlement efforts in interstate pipeline companies' rate cases, and developing financial tools that resulted in a $20 million reduction in an annual $60 million capital budget.

A professional engineer in the state of Georgia, Rawson has served on the GRI Power Systems Project Advisory Group, the American Gas Association Commercial/Industrial Committee, and the boards of the Florida Natural Gas Association, the Associated Gas Distributors of Florida, the Florida City Gas Endowment Fund, the Economic Development Council of Florida's Space Coast and the East Coast Zoological Society. He currently serves on the American Gas Association Operations Management Committee.

Rawson holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master's degree in business administration from Georgia State University.

An Atlanta native, he lives in Dunwoody, Ga., with his wife, Susan, and daughter, Rachel.
