Kevin Kirby was named vice president, Energy Efficiency for Southern Company Gas (formerly AGL Resources) in December 2011. He is responsible for energy efficiency programs across all Southern Company Gas utilities: Atlanta Gas Light, Chattanooga Gas, Elizabethtown Gas, Elkton Gas, Florida City Gas, Nicor Gas and Virginia Natural Gas. With 4.5 million utility customers, Southern Company Gas is the largest natural gas-only distribution company in the United States by customer count.

Previously, Kirby served as vice president, Customer Care for Nicor Gas where he was responsible for the entire customer care operation including billing services, billing quality assurance, contact center, correspondence, credit and collection, customer relations, remittance, business customer support, gas transportation, special services and energy efficiency.

Kirby started with Nicor, Inc. in 1984 as a supervisor and has held a variety of positions focused on customer service, including general manager of New Customer Additions, senior manager of Customer Care and president of Nicor Energy.

Kirby serves on the board of trustees for the Chicago Zoological Society for Brookfield Zoo and the Clean Energy Trust Industry Council. He is also an active member of the American Gas Association

He earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University in 1980 and his master's degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University in 2003.

He and his wife reside in Oswego, Ill. and have two grown children and a grandson.
