Nicor Gas

James Griffin was named vice president, Operations for Nicor Gas in March 2015. Nicor Gas is a subsidiary of Southern Company Gas (formerly AGL Resources), the largest natural gas-only distribution company in the United States based on customer count.

In this role, Griffin is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for Nicor Gas' core operations management and execution of field service, distribution and meter reading functions, as well as directing the production, operation and maintenance activities association with natural gas delivery.

Griffin previously served as vice president, Resource Management for Southern Company Gas. He began his career at Nicor Gas 29 years ago as a meter reader. He also served as vice president of Operations Administration where he oversaw sourcing, fleet, dispatching and scheduling, business system support, meter reading, damage prevention, operations financial support and accounts payable.

He is a member of the American Gas Association and past Chair of the Utility Customer Field Services Committee. He has also served as Chairman of the Nicor United Way Campaign for three years.

Griffin holds a bachelor of arts in business from Lewis University and a master's of business administration from Northern Illinois University.

He lives with his wife in Aurora, Ill. and has three children.
